Pros

The agency has a great, rewarding mission. In the right office you feel fulfilled every day.

Cons

The agency is in the midst of a transformation, a move to a more data centric workforce, unfortunetly the training offered in the agency's 'college' does not adequately prepare the workforce for this transition. They play people out of position, and buzzwords rule the day. If you can say the hot words of the day you will advance, without having to show you know what they actually mean. The agency desperately needs quality engineers, data professionals, and acquisition support.

Poor Leadership and toxic work environment

Business Outlook

Pros

Flexible work hours, good pay and benefits. Great opportunities for people of diverse backgrounds.

Cons

Poor Leadership and Decision Making creates chaotic environment where constant change increases stress on employees. Hiring and promotion practices since implementing a new level of bureaucracy known as "Career Services" has wreaked havoc on the career paths and promotion opportunities for employees. this changed the environment from filling jobs with best qualified and promoting based on the responsibilities associated with the job to a writing contest. An easy to maintain corporate resume was replaced with a pre-formatted computer based Integrated Talent Profile that takes a rediculous amount of time to produce. In the end promotions and job vacancies go to those with the best written ITP. Hence, we have a "Writing Contest" based promotion system that has not worked out well.
