Pros

As a Power System Engineer Higher Apprentice at National Grid, I've found the experience both challenging and rewarding. Working alongside experienced professionals has deepened my understanding of power systems and reinforced the importance of safety, collaboration, and innovation. The support from mentors and the wider team has made a significant difference in my growth and confidence. Additionally, having the opportunity to travel without worrying about accommodation—since it is provided by the company—has been a great benefit.

Cons

Sometimes the workload is so high that it becomes difficult to manage your time effectively. Additionally, colleagues may not always be available to support you, as they have their own responsibilities to focus on. As a result, you might struggle to meet deadlines, which can impact your progression through the scheme. This delay could ultimately affect your ability to complete the apprenticeship on time.
