Pros

- Great work life balance with opportunity for hybrid/remote work - High emphasis on personal and professional development - Very stable industry - Clear path to career progression - Diverse culture

Cons

One, I found the work to be slow moving and not interesting. The processes are mundane and reviews felt unnecessarily long. My general feeling is that because National Grid has a natural monopoly in the market, there may be less of an incentive to drive ideation in procurement. This is a well established organization with clear processes. However, this means almost everything requires a review with very narrow guardrails so that things are aligned with the norm. Quite frankly, this made the job boring since it seemed the process mattered more than the results. That being said, the work is stable and you will get a steady paycheck. If you value a bustling, high intensity working environment, then this may not be for you just yet. Two, I feel that projects were highly individualized despite some teams making an effort to offer guidance and collaboration.
