      Pros

      A beautiful, well equiped laboratory and wonderful staff and management made this place a tremendous joy to work in. Safety and employee well-being were tremendously important, as was celebrating employees milestones and accomplishments.

      Cons

      Maintaining a rigid work schedule (7:20-16:02, union regulated. Yes, the :02 is not a typo) in a laboratory setting, which is usually characterized with flexibility and openness was a bit annoying. Working around this should not have been as challenging as it was.

      Pros

      Great people in the Nuclear Engineering building, were always willing to answer questions, and appreciated the help of the interns, did work that both them and I got value out of.

      Cons

      Sometimes a challenge to get onto the shipyard based on the gate situation, but that was being improved as I was leaving my internship.

      Pros

      Very stable job in an expensive state.

      Cons

      As of 2016, a GS-13 manager is making $100K; highest salary range in the Shipyard is ~$160K. There is not a lot of room to grow as the top is very thin. Senior management consistently fails to hold people accountable => underachievers retain their jobs.
