Pros
The insurance and 401K packages are good. Not the best I have seen, but definitely above average. The PTO policy is good for longtime associates, but you will need the PTO to deal with the aggravation and stress that comes from working here. The dress policy is casual, which is nice. Many of the associates I have worked with at locations outside of the KC office really know their stuff and are good to work with. I was disheartened to see so many of them leaving, but I do not blame them.
Cons
It's sad to think what this company has become. When I started at Netsmart, it seemed to have so much potential and a desire to change the world of behavioral health (not just make $$). The leaders in place at the time had dedicated so much of themselves and worked so hard for Netsmart and their associates. Those leaders have mostly all left at this point (the management turnover is the highest of any company I've worked for). As time went on, the software grew increasingly buggy, the software they acquired was even worse than what they already had, and the leadership they brought in was some of the worst I have ever seen. Many of the new leaders are from Cerner or in some way affiliated with Cerner. They do not spend time or money on fixing the major issues with the software. Instead they just spin up (or acquire) some new crap software, rush it through QA, and collect their checks made from empty promises to clients. As many of the other reviewers have said, the company is entirely KC-centric now. It got to the point where I started to cringe just hearing about KC. The other offices have all of this great talent, but many are leaving in droves because they see where things are headed. It's likely either KC or the highway at this point. There are too many truly great companies near the other locations to waste your time trying to be a part of Netsmart, when they're not interested in you unless you're in KC. If Netsmart does intend to grow the other locations in any way, they sure don't act like it. If you look at the job openings at this point it's almost laughable. I'd say 90% or more are intended for KC, while many of the people leaving are from the other locations. If the backfills from other locations are going to KC, that is a giant red flag. Netsmart acts like a giant corporation in many aspects, but they haven't matured the processes enough to support the growth they need to become a true major corporation. If you try to advocate for any maturity of the processes, be ready for leadership to shut you down. They are either lazy or just don't want to mess with the status quo. And you'd better be a 'Yes Man', because if you show any type of concern or willingness to make an improvement in any area, it will be viewed as negativity. You will be ignored at best and completely shunned at worst. Like I said, the leadership is a real problem here.
