Pros

It was great to get a running start into a journalism career at a small NYT-owned paper. The opportunities were vast—they treat their interns as full staff members and expect nothing but the best from them. You get to pitch ideas and write tons of long and short stories.

Cons

It can be stressful, but that comes with the job. During my internship, there was not enough focus on web activity; it's growing more now, but it would have been valuable to have had that heads up earlier on in the new media shift.
