Pros

I've been a professional for over 30 years. I feel Newsmax offers the best atmosphere I've found. I discovered Newsmax in 2014, and have been a full time employee since. I have been with the company for five years and would never think of leaving! I was recommended by a lawyer who worked in the same building. Newsmax responded quickly to the suggestion. Truly collegial work environment, really nice people I've run across in this work environment! Management is pro-employee, and thinks of all staff as "assets" of the company. Good benefits compared to the rest.

Cons

News workload can be demanding. The company focused recently on the growth of its TV channel, which doesn't make everyone happy. But growth there is strong. I'd suggest if it's bankers hours you seek, perhaps that is a more suitable employment venue for you.

Dangerous Place to Work

Pros

You will learn how to work with really difficult people. I guess there is a lesson in that.

Cons

It is a very political environment. A lot of negativity. A ton of focus on the CEO's passion ... getting Newsmax on TV. They ignore where the money is made ... financial publications and health publications. Leadership is controlling. The top managers are only there because they are "yes men" to the CEO. Not bad people really. They just don't dare challenge him. The biggest negative is that they have you sign a two year non-compete, and will enforce it ... even if you are laid off (which I was not). Don't work there unless they waive the 2-year non-compete.

Pros

Good place to get your foot in the door or make a strategic career jump. Good compensation.

Cons

Waves of layoffs. Zero communication on strategic goals. Run at the whim of micro-managing founder. Paranoid business culture.

There has been a lot of change in the company as Newsmax transitions to becoming a multi-media company. We have been making changes to make sure that employees understand our goals and directions as we realign to support this new direction.
