Decent at best

Pros

Newsday's compensation is about average, I'd say. It just depends on who you ask in the building. But overall it's a decent, at best, place to work.

Cons

There is a major level of inequality in the building going from dept. to dept., and sometimes within departments. Directives are blurred and vision is sometimes foggy.

Pros

Newsday is well known in the area and many employees are proud of the history of the paper.

Cons

The newspaper industry is in decline. The paper experiences layoff after layoff, and employees, particularly editorial, works in constant fear of the next wave of downsizing.
