Pros

Overall, I enjoy working here. The people I work with are what make me remain and the hope that an upcoming opportunity will challenge and excite me as I’ve very much been rolling with the punches for a while now. The ideas around Nextdoor’s core mission are great but not executed well at all.

Cons

The company is completely US focused. Products get introduced to the US first and engineers, designers etc only think about INTL markets as a second thought. Often this makes the job of operations, product managers and customer support very difficult. Customer support staff aren’t treated like part of the company as they are hired through external agencies, meaning they don’t receive the same benefits and are often looked down upon or not looked at at all. Small teams which mean you end up doing the work of 3 people for very minimal pay. Even when you receive a pay increase you’re outrightly told it’s below the national average, not a lot of incentive to remain other than good relationships with colleagues. Again, the thoughts behind the mission are great but not executed well. Nextdoor wishes to bring people together and yet those in leadership roles have such a disconnect with what neighbours are actually saying and how they are behaving. The core values are broken everyday by neighbours yet there’s nothing being done to fix this conflict. Due to recent changes of becoming a public company, you get the impression it’s all about growth and money.
