Pros

The pay was very good compared to other department stores. I probably made between $15 and $20/hr for the time I worked there.

Cons

Managment was very incompetent. It was a dog eat dog environment (because it was commission sales). And managment really didn't congratulate you on what you did right but they were sure to complain to you about what you are doing wrong.

Pros

Nordstrom offers competitive pay, promotes from within, and provides an excellent benefits package to their full-time employees. It provides an excellent sales environment.

Cons

There is little upward mobility into positions of upper management at the Nordstrom Anchorage store unless you are willing to move (temporarily or permanently) to another Nordstrom location to gain more experience.

Pros

It's one of the the top companies to work for even if you don't have any previous work experience in retail.

Cons

Because it commission based sales pay, its very competitive. If you have shark like coworkers, you wont have a choice but to become a shark yourself to earn some money.
