Pros

Nordstrom is the only place I have worked for in retail. Though I would have to say it is a very fun place to work. Being a loss prevention agent, I am given a lot of freedom and the training provided is top of the line.

Cons

Downsides would be pressure to get cases on shoplifters. Grab and runs are hard to stop and the LP Agent gets the blame.

Pros

You make your own paycheck and the company really cares about their personnel. Employees are given responsibility for their own performance and there are good opportunities for advancement.

Cons

Could be somewhat boring at times, especially on slow days. The whole commission thing could also get a bit confusing especially when multiple people help the same customer.

Pros

Make a reasonable good salary for a retail job. Very professional work environment. Ability for much growth within the company.

Cons

Retail work means that you work long hours, work saturdays, work holidays and such. Also, there is no base salary - just commission - so the income varies a lot by month.
