Pros

Nordstrom is a great place to work and develop your career. I worked there for 14 years in several different positions and managed to work my way up from Stockperson to Assistant Financial Planner for a Vice President. There is a lot of respect and professionalism between peers and management. You live and breathe customer service both within and outside the company. Communication is great and there are a lot of opportunities. I left for a shorter commute and better work-life balance but later realized I had it great there. Now there's a complete hiring freeze because of the economy and I can't get back in.

Cons

Commute, no free parking (to corporate office) Work-life balance is not very good depending on manger Very few work flexibility options, i.e telecommuting, part-time, etc.

Excellent training in customer service and sales.

Cons

The liberal return policy can wreak havoc on your commission-based pay check.
