Pros

Convenience, aesthetically attractive grounds, less busy than other hospitals.

Cons

So many ways in which this organization can do better. We’re a “pretty” hospital, and Pretty doesn’t cut it. Patients love the care we provide, and we work hard to please. Always short staffed, so don’t get sick or have an emergency. It’s considered an incident each time you have to call out. The scheduling policy is something else. Lots of micromanaging. We transfer everything out so you don’t get a lot of experience with some of the more basic nursing skills.

Pros

I work on a Cardiac IMCU the nurse-to-patient ratio is 3:1 and only sometimes is it 4:1. The charge nurses and supervisors work hard to make things run smoothly as possible. Everyone helps one another and you never feel alone. I enjoy my job and my coworkers.

Cons

There is a lot of charting that is expected to be done but once you get used to it it gets better. Northside holds its staff to a high standard of care. This isn't a negative but can feel exhausting at times but it's for a good reason. Cerner is the charting system that's used and it's a tough nut to crack but once you get the hang of it, it doesn't seem too bad.
