Pros

You get to help a lot of people not matter what role you are in. Most lower level managers are great!

Cons

If you are male then you get far less benefits. Men just started getting paternity leave this year. Women definitely have much more. The overall benefits are mediocre at best. Pay is average, maybe even slightly below. No clear cut career path, once you are in a position then they want you to stay there or move laterally. No perks whatsoever. They try to sell an LA Fitness membership for $25 as a perk, but you can go to LA Fitness and talk them into $20 on your own. The absolute worst thing is the technology!!!! The clinical technology is fine, but the programs they use for anything else (patient data, billing, business, etc.) are stuck in 2002.

Pros

Excellent team atmosphere and exceptional leadership. Even before I became a member of this leadership team, I knew that they/we are Northside's most valuable and most unique asset. You just can't find a more supportive, nurturing and understanding group of leaders anywhere else.

Cons

It's easy to get burned out. NSH is very budget-conscious so there are hiring freezes every year and between holiday vacations, refusal to allow overtime, and generally being short-staffed, myself and my team are exhausted. I love what I do, so it's worth it, but it can make me feel at times that we as employees are forgotten about.

Pros

The hospital and employees are great. They really provide great care and service.

Cons

This is specifically about the Cherokee location. The new management is awful and does not care about it's employees or resolving any issues. They don't want to work on fixing issues. The manager flat out said in a staff meeting..If you are not happy then leave, instead of trying to come up with a solution. I'm not saying that everyone can be pleased all the time but there should be some communication and trying to solve issues instead of just take it or leave.
