Pros
Northwestern Mutual shows care and concern for its employees, encouraging the highest level of work, yet understanding that people have lives outside of their jobs as well. Praise and recognition is given where due, and employees acorss the organization seem truly proud to work for one of the oldest and largest life insurers in the country. In general, it is a very positive working environment where care is taken to let employees know of the opportunities that are available to them. Particularly in this uncertain economic climate, it is reassuring to work for a company that we know will be there tomorrow, next week, next year and beyond.
Cons
As in any large corporation, there are many layers of red tape to cut through, and "political" sensitivities to be aware of.
