Pros
Great place to start a career or become financially stable.
Cons
Most people stay or love their job because the mills are in locations where there aren't as many job opportunities and they don't want to move due to family. So, in comparison to jobs in the location, it's great. However, in comparison to jobs in general, this is one of the worst jobs I have ever had. PTO is not encouraged and you will make less money if you take PTO as a production employee. You can make good money here, but sometimes being able to take bereavement or spend Christmas with family means more than money. This is where management has the opportunity to show they care for their employees, but instead they woo them with safety speeches. The Mills are behind the times. Mostly white men make up the labor force, and discrimination is rampant. I wish more people would report their experiences, but it is hard to speak out when you want to advance in the company or keep your job. The 401k match is very low in comparison to other company packages I have seen. They brainwash you with feeling like you can't get a better job somewhere else with the high salary figure, but a lot of people forget about the benefits that go with it. That being said, if you luck into a good department that isn't as toxic, you might have a better experience.
