Pros

Working with car parts and being in the environment around cars and good team members is the best experience at this company. Being able to learn about cars even if you don't know anything about them is easy and fun.

Cons

It doesn't matter if you have been with the company for 2 years or 15 years; if you are not best friends with store management or drinking buddies with the D.M. and if you are not Hispanic ; you will not promote with this company. Most of the employee's in management positions are either Hispanic or female. The Regional Vice President is Hispanic, most of the D.m's are Hispanic and most if not all the manger's at O'Reilly's in Northern California bay and South Bay are Hispanic. I have been working for the company for 5 years, am White, and have passed over by less qualified individuals with less than 6 months experience on several occasions simply because they either are members of managements 'click", or are Hispanic and female or male. I have been evaluated on performance once a year and have received a 100% score every time and been recommended by 3 different manager's for a promotion to assistant manager but never promoted. That being said I have seen on 3 different occasions another fellow team member with less qualifications and less experience then me get promoted. Each and every time these team members were Hispanic and either male or female. Team members at O'Reilly Auto Parts in the south bay are union represented and these concerns are not allowed to be expressed with the union as we are united. But these experiences by me are not alone. Many of my fellow team members have experienced the same and are at a loss of what to do. I am not a racist but request equally just like anyone else.
