Pros

Some lovely people work at Open Health and unfortunately most of the great people there are leaving, have left or were made redundant.

Cons

Terrible management who don't care about anyone but themselves. Most of the management are incompetent and do not know what management means. You are constantly threatened by being made redundant so you can never give honest feedback to improve things. Awful place to work except for the great people there.

Pros

Some of the people are nice to work with

Cons

There is a lack of respect and transparency on a regular basis with senior management poorly managing teams. Lack of appreciation for staff and the work they do, and micro managing. There’s a cold atmosphere both in person and digitally. For such a large company the support for career development is aimed at a select group of people which is the same for promotions, where only the same people are promoted on a regular basis whilst other members of staff do not get a look in. Office closures, teams being disbanded and lots of people leaving speaks volumes.

Thank you for taking the time to provide this candid feedback. We value all employee feedback and use it to implement changes to make OPEN Health a better place to work. We're truly sorry this has been your experience. We never want anyone to feel like they are not valued. We are working hard to put some large initiatives in place that may help with some of this feedback. We are starting to look at how to build out career development plans and put more structure in place so employees know how they can advance. We are working hard at building a culture that is inclusive of all remote and in-office working arrangements. We have culture initiatives that are underway and would value any feedback you would like to provide on how we can improve our culture. Lastly, as a growing global organization that has experienced many acquisitions we have been going through a lot of change, we fully acknowlege that it is hard and can be difficult to adapt to but is necessary to make us stronger for the future. We are working on some change management initiatives to help managers and teams cope with change. Please feel free to reach out and discuss this further with anyone on the People Team. Your voice and feedback matters.

Lack of transparency and appalling redundancy process

Pros

- My line manager for most of the time I was there was amazing, as were my immediate team. There are some wonderful, talented people in the organisation who are passionate about what we do. - Salary was good, as was remote/ flexible working.

Cons

- Really (really, really) poor communication from senior management, there is a clear sense or a lack of transparency, summed up by the fact that a couple of months ago at a big face-to-face meeting these people saying how great things were going for the company, then almost suddenly after this laying off loads of people with sob stories of how bad financially they have been doing this year. - Change is handled very badly, lots of people leaving after I started with little to no support with the difficulties surrounding this despite me being fairly new. - HR and payroll departments are pretty useless. Had issues regarding contracts, being paid what I was contracted etc and it took many, many attempts at contact to get things resolved. - The redundancy process was an absolute abomination, without due process followed, and with refusals to provide information about how they came to the decision to make certain roles redunant. They begun absorbing our roles into other roles which should not be doing our jobs whilst we were still there. Only justification given was a list of skills needed which they said I didn't have, but these were all in my job description and I had evidently used them during my time there. - I was only still there for a bit of time as I tried to question the process, however, they then suddenly put a meeting and made me redundant with immediate effect with no time for handover or time to say goodbye to the team. - A lot of the more senior management in the team are extremely fake. Praising my work and skills during my short-time there then in the next minute making me redundant for not having said skills. Redundancy did not include any skills assessment/ mapping or attempts to understand our roles. And those who are left repeatedly expressed how difficult their roles will be without us given we have unique skills that are essential to project success.
