      Pay, benefits, friendly people, good co-workers

      Cons

      - Favoritism, excessive workloads, and micro-management. - Limited promotional opportunities. - Difficult/impossible to obtain other positions within the organization. - Qualified internal candidates are often overlooked by HR in favor of hiring externally. - HR doesn't value good, dedicated workers. - Management protects its own--while the average worker is displaced or experience job loss.

      Fun and innovate place to work

      Pros

      Work is focused on scientific discovery and innovation. Everyday you felt you had a purpose and were working towards something significant. Always interesting speakers coming through to give talks.

      Cons

      Funding largely tied to the government. This can lead to some instability when there is turmoil in Washington. A good amount of time spent working on the 'next' proposal in your off time.

      Excellent government experience related to food policy and regulation.

      Cons

      ORAU's Human Resources department is a mess. You will more than likely have your contract start date delayed, automatic deposit for your monthly stipend not processed correctly at first, and reimbursements delayed due to incompetent staff.
