Pros

My mentor was great and I learned a lot.

Cons

Taxes are not taken out of your stipend and have to be paid quarterly. The bureaucracy can be tedious to deal with. You have to pay for your own health insurance.

Decent Insurance. HR staff is very nice and helpful. Can have high variation in work. Quality of experience is very dependent on mentor (think grad school advisor)

Cons

If ASTRO intern, taxes are not removed from paycheck and will have to pay at the end of the year. Little assistance in filing taxes. Quality of experience is very dependent on mentor (think grad school advisor)
