Pros

Workplace Culture and Team Collaboration: Many employees appreciate the supportive, family-like atmosphere and strong teamwork within their teams and across departments. They value the camaraderie, inclusivity, and mutual respect that foster a positive work environment focused on patient care. Meaningful Work and Patient Impact: Employees find motivation and satisfaction in knowing their work directly or indirectly improves patient care and community health. This sense of purpose is a significant driver of engagement.

Cons

Degree Requirements and Career Advancement: Many employees express concern that strict degree requirements, especially for IT roles, hinder career progression and demoralize experienced staff without degrees. There is a strong preference for recognizing equivalent experience or certifications in lieu of formal degrees to promote internal mobility and retain talent.

Pros

The view is nice from the SCC.

Cons

Zero transparency. No communication from Top down to clinical operations, and/or it’s very limited. HR is non-existent or ridiculously impossible to reach or contact. Benefits are a facade and can be reduced or cancelled without your consent. Total Health Rewards program is an outright scam, confirm confirm confirm what they tell you and get it in writing but even then don’t trust what you’ve been told. Read your benefit elections carefully, especially your PTO. You don’t accrue as much as other competitive jobs. Your pay won’t be competitive but it is an “academic” healthcare workspace, just without the actual academia. Expect a toxic work culture, environment when it comes to respecting boundaries. You will be asked to do more for less money, they will call it “cross-training” and won’t hire someone to fill an empty slot if you can makeup another person’s work. ***If you identify anywhere on the LGBTQ+ spectrum don’t work there unless you feel like being the model minority token of the clinic.*** Protect your peace and mental well-being and strongly think before accepting a job here. If you have another option, take it. Get used to sudden changes in work duties or being asked to “ say yes” or “keep the faith” which translates to take on more work for no compensation. This place is a fantastic example of work culture gone wrong and the effect it has on revenue, staff, and the health of its employees/patients. The only positive is that for some reason the patients are kind despite being screwed over by a company that places profits over patient care. Finally, I wasn’t one of the employees laid off but I’ve worked at OU health long enough to know being laid off would have been a better alternative than sitting on a sinking ship.

Pros

Hard to find a reason to want to work here. Look elsewhere! Previous management team and organizational culture was significantly better. The pay was low but other factors made it a great place to work for. Now things have changed and it has become the opposite and it’s only getting worse.

Cons

Incompetent leadership. They are currently cutting fringe benefits across the board and using the excuse of poor financial performance to justify take aways, yet they are paying ridiculous management bonuses and salaries. Only the frontline employees suffer. I worked in HR so I saw this information first hand. Brown-nosing is rewarded rather than actual merit. There’s a reason why turnover was high and it is only increasing. The competent employees are voluntarily jumping ship for a reason. Low work life balance, subpar pay, incompetent management, reduction in benefits, waves of layoffs, lack of transparency, unwillingness to adapt and listen to concerns…
