Pros

I've watched Ocado Technology continue to innovate and reinvent itself in monumental leaps for every year over the last 5 years I've been with the company. The business offers up the ability to work on a broad range of technically challenging projects using the most up-to-date software and hardware available, and collaborate with passionate people with truly brilliant minds and big hearts. You have the ability to drive your career wherever it is you want to go at Ocado Technology. Just make sure you are strapped in.

Cons

We are growing at a phenomenal rate, meaning some the company architecture and (human) resources to support this growth is missing. Communication within teams and across the business needs improving.

Pros

The technology is much more exciting and cutting edge than you'd think, and there are loads of different projects going on – which means you get to meet people with all sorts of specialisms and backgrounds. Generally people are friendly and happy to help out if you need it. Also, check out Code for Life, which is a free teaching initiative the company has created for schools. It's mostly developed by volunteers and is a good way to get to know people from different areas of the division.

Cons

Hatfield itself isn't very interesting. It does have countryside and pubs etc nearby, and isn't far from London.

Code for Life is also open source, if anyone wants to get involved in developing the Rapid Router game or the portal. Go to Ocado Technology on Github and look for Rapid Router or Code for Life.
