      Ocado Technology and its highly-talented engineers never stop learning. They're constantly pushing the boundaries of what's possible and innovating at every step. From senior management to junior engineers, Ocado Technology understands just how important the technology that powers the business is. Combined with a vibrant culture that strives to create the best possible work environment. Ocado Technology is an excellent place to work.

      Cons

      Whilst Ocado Technology does everything it can to make the head office location easily accessible, it's can be somewhat awkward for those living in London.

      Great to hear that the work is still interesting and fresh even after 5 years here and that you like the culture so much. In case anybody reading this would like more info about commuting from London, we offer interest-free season ticket loans for the train (plus free shuttle to and from the station). Train from Hatfield to Kings Cross is about 21 mins. We also have parking and electric charge points.

      A constantly evolving and innovative company working on a huge range of technology projects

      Pros

      Ocado Technology never fails to bore. With projects ranging from robotics, custom wireless protocols, highly performant real-time control software and industry leading e-commerce sites and mobile apps, there is something for everyone. Everyone is afforded a generous amount of autonomy and there is next to no red tape. Somehow, even with about 1000 technology employees, it still feels like a start-up, such is the level of constant innovation and evolution.

      Cons

      Ocado Technology is hugely ambitious. With a lack of employees to achieve everything we'd like to, this can sometimes translate to frustration. In addition, the broad range of projects and disciplines leads to a technology department which sometimes feels disjointed and siloed, despite the best efforts of the management team.

      A growing company with challenging work and listens to employees

      Pros

      Technically challenging with a few high-profile external partners (Google, AI), designing and implementing their own solutions rather than simply outsourcing. Feels like we're working with cutting edge technology. Encouraged to collaborate with colleagues and other departments, with suggestions listened to and receiving appropriate responses. They also seem adaptable to work/life balances, with numerous employees with young families.

      Cons

      With Ocado Technology growing to accommodate future outsourcing of their business solutions, it seems to have frequent restructures and some growing pains. Overall this makes it feel more dynamic and trying to meet new demands, rather than creating obstructions. Some areas or roles need a little more structure and guidance on career progression (e.g. Project Management).
