Pros

Company paid health care Growing company Family owned

Cons

Upper managment does not meet together to decide on how things should be done. You will get one person that comes into the store and tell you to do something one way, then the next day you get a different person come in and yell at you for doing it that way. The company in general is micro managed like crazy the store manager has very little power and are basicly just a glorifed stocker. Home office changes policy constantly to fit themselfs. As for holiday pay you will hardly ever see it. They only pay for a couple of holidays and you have to work 5 out of the last 7 of what ever day it falls on. So if the holiday falls on a friday and you have only worked 4 out of the last 7 fridays you will not get holiday pay.

Pros

The pay isn't bad, and the benefits are above industry standard. They carry some very interesting products that are fun to sell. They are a stable company that claims to have no debt.

Cons

Ocean State Jobbers makes it continually more difficult for its employees to keep up with their own tasks. Managers and hourly employees alike get fewer and fewer hours, but the workload only gets worse. Often there are multiple levels of management, buyers and owners with different opinions on what they think you should be doing, and how well you do depends solely on who visits the store that day. Favoritism and nepotism are common on an incredible scale- often the main office will make positions or force store managers to hire for family members of the owners and buyers if an opportunity doesn't already exist. In recent years, there has been an uptick of managers who walked out or who were terminated for suspicious causes.
