High stress, high turnover industry

Pros

Some kind of income... bits of advancement, small 50 cent raises for cross training. Medical related experience.

Cons

High turn over industry, high stress, unhygienic donors, rude donors, employee favoritism, management apathy, not much room for growth. They tell you it is a "stepping stone" job but it is not. They don't care if you have education. Also don't care when you are suffering at the hands of rude, impatient donors or warm body coworkers. Favoritism and cronyism is what gets you the promotion, not hard work. On top of this, you have to endure audits where well paid executives from corporate come in to tear you apart. Oh and lets not forget the exposure to blood borne pathogens and sharp instruments.

You can get away with almost anything as long as you get along with management. And the experience

Cons

What isn't wrong with this place? Management knows diddly about running this establishment. They practically pay you in peanuts. The people who work there shouldn't even be allowed to come near the building. They let ANYTHING donate, no matter how ghetto they are. If you don't kiss up to management you probably won't be there for long. You have to reuse the gloves on multiple donors until they rip, or get blood or iodine on them. Management is no where to be found in stressful situations. The few who have been there for years don't even know the proper protocols. Who do you go to when your superiors don't have the answers? I can go on for days...

The pay is good, hours are not too bad although can be quite unpredictable for closing opening or mid.

Cons

You will work all areas of the center except for training, management, and QA. Which upon working here long enough you'll likely be asked to fill one of those as well.
