Pros

Owners are amazing and really care about employees. They're smart, friendly, and approachable. Healthcare Benefits!. Very accommodating to employees outside MD area. Lots of swag! Annual parties are very creative and not mundane like some companies who may or may not have used an iPod hooked up to a PA to provide music...really?

Cons

The dental plan is not the best

Pros

- Everyone at the company is the kind of person that you'd be willing to be friends with. I've never met an employee that was particularly difficult to work with, and that's largely because everyone is willing to take the time to communicate their point of view rationally and completely. - The company management is flexible regarding your work, your hours, your location, and your level of input. Nobody here watches the clock, and communication about the direction of an individual's effort is encouraged. - Access to lots of technologies. Want to work on Vagrant and Virtualbox? You can do that. Want to work on front-end of technical docs? You can do that. Want to work with giant corporations, or government? Take your pick. Open-source product development? You got it. Web-Dev? There's a spot for that. Onyx point has so many directions that it can expand in, and if you're a clearly capable and driven person then they can find a place for you and be flexible regarding the direction your work takes you. - Is established and stable, doesn't rely on venture capital money, but still feels like a startup in many ways.

Cons

There are detriments to working with a company that has so much interaction with the government. Sometimes decisions feel as though they are made specifically for government customers. Sometimes accommodations have to made for government regulations even if you only work with private sector clients. Sometimes it feels like the government slows things down. That being said, there's beer in the fridge so it can't be that bad. The pay is just OK. If you're the kind of bright and driven person that can work here and fit in, you could probably be making more money somewhere boring. Lack of structure. There is definitely a need to be self-motivated at times.

Pros

Small Company I'm on a first name basis with the owners Lots of opportunities for employee engagement Lots of employee events throughout the year Great pay and benefits We are on multiple contracts, which translates to numerous opportunities

Cons

It's the contracting world, so sometimes we are at the mercy of the prime, but it's the same at all small companies.
