      Pros

      There are many great spirited, highly talented people working at OpenText. The product set is huge and delivers well on EIM strategy, although some of it is dated. Strong relationship with SAP. A real drive to modernize enterprise applications, which a strong focus on the Cloud. There are many acquisitions in an attempt to improve competition with the big companies, such as IBM.

      Cons

      Unfortunately, the numerous acquisitions frequently lead to loss of productivity, with many of the talent from the acquired companies jumping ship within months of the acquisition. Frequent change of corporate direction often results to the acquired technology being put in “maintenance mode”, with more talented people leaving, which doesn't seem to be the best path to sustainable growth. Home-grown products don't get the time to mature with development teams reallocated too soon to work on the next flavour of the month. Your best chance of a successful career at OpenText, particularly on the product development and engineering sides of the business, is to be at the HQ in Waterloo, Canada or San Francisco, USA. In other locations, look for sales or professional services roles.
