Pros

Completely virtual work environment and if you thrive in an environment where you can be anonymous, then this works well.

Cons

Management has not gotten the sales organization into the same room for more than 18 months. The relationships between technical pre-sales and the sales organization is dead. High turn-over leads to constant re-training. The products are aging and sales cycles are long.

Pros

Security of a large firm certainly allays any fears of the company being acquired, in this case they are the big fish eating the small. The company does have a strong focus area in the content management space.

Cons

They just keep buying smaller companies without fully digesting what they have, all to make the balance sheet look good. The nett effect is a very mismatched organisation with no sense of a common culture and many business units acting as if they are competing with one another. the company that I was with was acquired by OpenText in 2013 and when we asked the COO if he had any idea of what the technology offered, he openly said "No, but the balance sheet looked good, so we bought it". Needless to say, I left shortly afterwards.

Pros

Some very hard working and talented employees at grass roots level who are trying to do their job with integrity against all odds.

Cons

A CEO who will be the end of OpenText, destroying the company one bad decision at a time. He is a micromanager and needs to control every aspect of the business and refuses to empower managers to make even the most basic of decisions. Instead he has surrounded himself with an ELT made up of people that just nod and follow even the most nonsensical orders.
