A shame to see the demise of a great company

Pros

In the current environment that exists at the company, it is very hard to find anything positive to say.

Cons

Poor salaries, low morale, non-existent culture, disaffected staff, fragmented product stream, woeful marketing. It has been sad to witness the transformation of what was once a great company with wonderful values and a good, cohesive structure and culture to the organization that exists today. CEO wanting to sign off on every last little detail, management too scared to push back, weekly rounds of redundancies, flocks of great talent departing of their own accord. The field in complete disarray. The pretence that the company is still a Canadian-organization yet all the key executive roles are now in San Francisco.

Pros

OpenText is a large company, and as a result, there are plenty of opportunities for interesting roles. Moving to new roles within the organisation is relatively easy.

Cons

OpenText could almost be seen as a holding company, continuously buying companies with interesing technology and then downsizing sales and development teams. In some cases, this can lead to the company that was acquired being wound down within a few years, while retaining the technology in some way or another.

Pros

- Nice people to work with - They are flexible - have the ability to work from home when needed

Cons

- Pay under industry standards - Processes have unnecessary bottlenecks - More managers, directors, VPs than front-line employees in some department - org chart is especially laugahable - No room for growth (No raise in 5 years)
