Pros

Coworkers are the best part. Everyone is very supportive and willing to help at the drop of a dime.

Cons

Project Managers are extremely overworked. 50-60 projects per PM. Management was attempting to decrease this number of projects per PM, but hadn't come up with an efficient way. Projects range from 40 hours to 400+ hours. Lack of process and documentation. Learn by being thrown into the fire. No training on products/services

Optiv Response

Thanks for your feedback. We are committed to creating an environment where employees feel empowered, supported, and are proud of their work and impact on the world. You are right, Optiv employees are the best. We all get a chance to work side by side with very talented folks and support each other to become our absolute best. We are sorry to hear you felt overworked. Work-life balance is an important tenant of the values we live by, even in times of fast growth. That is why we offer our employees our Recharge program, a flexible, no time tracking vacation policy that lets you take the time you need, when you need it. We'd like to offer the opportunity to continue this conversation, please reach out to HR@optiv.com, and share some more on the 'Cons' you listed. We're willing to listen! Thanks for being on our team and best of luck in your future endeavors!

Pros

The lower/mid tier people (who are left) are decent to work with, generally helpful, and knowledgeable.

Cons

The upper management seems to be doing their best to make Optiv fail. It's not that layoffs happened, it's how it happened that makes it clear they didn't bother to think, conduct basic due diligence, or really give a damn about their workers or their overall profitability. Just needed to cut $$$ so they did. If you need a job, its fine, just keep your resume updated and don't expect a whole lot of loyalty.

Pros

At one time, there were lots of positive aspects to the company and my role in particular. There are still a few good people left to make a positive impact on the company's future. Pay for some roles has improved. If you can get on the right team, it can be a good place to be. An IPO down the road, maybe.

Cons

There are a lot more Cons these days. Company leadership claims to care about employees, but then lays off a good number of tenured and experienced leaders, including someone preparing to start chemotherapy. (That person got re-instated once outrage online was felt.) I expect more to voluntarily leave after the last wave of layoffs. The benefits aren't great. The non-compete agreement is egregious.
