Pros

The money is good. Sometimes interesting work.

Cons

Most of the money you make goes to shareholder and managers. Let's say you have just joined and the spot you are trading makes 10m in a year. Half will go to shareholders, most of the rest will go to managers, and you'd take home a bonus of maybe 200-300k. For the first few years your boss will literally earn 20x what you are in bonuses, and he won't even be enduring the stress of trading. Still pretty good money though.

Pros

- Flat structure, mostly free from internal politics - Transparant and better (read much higher) variable reward structure then most of its competitors

Cons

Weekdays are intense, although no weekend work still allows for reasonable work-life balance Optiver provides a career with a lot of upside, but it does require a lot of hard work to get thwrw
