Lots of great learning experiences

Pros

Healthcare Tech is an interesting as well as challenging area to be in. With many new innovations trying to integrate themselves into older legacy infrastructure that exists in an older dependent industry. Great place to learn and apply a bunch of skills.

Cons

If your good at putting out fires, or ramping things up quickly to prove points. You can get shuffled from fire to fire till its fixed. While it keeps things interesting for the short term, slowly it can wear on you.

Pros

Able to work from home

Cons

Full time work doing utilization reviews for routine outpatient psychotherapy. 20% of all review must be referred to a 'higher level review' which is code for denying ongoing outpatient therapy. If you don't refer 20% of cases for those higher level reviews or 'peer reviews' you won't be meeting your metrics and could be let go. The whole department is a scam. It's meant to 'offer savings' to employers who offer Optum to their employees, but really it's a way to deny outpatient therapy to members to put more money in the CEO's pocket.

Big Company

Pros

Lot of internal job postings since it's a big company, many offices around US so if you are willing to relocate you got many options. Generally people don't feel overworked. There is a nice break room with ping-pong. You can work from home. Very good 401k match, good employee stock purchase plan program.

Cons

Computers are very locked down. Social Media, YouTube, gmail and other non-office mail servers are blocked from the office network.
