Pros

Working with Coherence, Java, Hudson, and other extremely cool products. Working on designs and implementations of incredible size and scope. Co-workers are for the most part extremely competent engineers and fun to work with. Mid and lower level management is for the most part, exceptionally good.

Cons

Pay is pathetic. We were acquired several years ago. I'm getting paid 2/3 of the median Oracle salary for my current pay grade. I get meets expectations to exceeds expectations reviews. I still have zero expectations of receiving any pay increase this year. They take full advantage of situation when they buy out smaller companies. They don't budge salaries for anyone except Ellison and Hurd, who they continue to stuff cash into. We're bleeding talent like crazy, a classic case of passive brightsizing. 1/3 of our team has left.

Pros

-- Free beverages -- Most engineering staff is smart and capable of good work. -- Benefits are good and comprehensive, but nothing stands out.

Cons

-- Your start salary will likely be your end salary. -- Some technologies (ADF, ADF Mobile) are so poorly architected that you have to question how well this company can do anything. -- Inter-division politics, which admittedly exist everywhere, are especially bad in the applications group. -- Lots of 'useless people', who don't seem to fill any specific role, but don't seem to be bad enough to be fired.

Pros

- Decent pay - Great brand - Nice culture: almost flexible timings (although this depends on the team) - Good facilities: home drop, employee activities, etc

Cons

- Not high on learning. Many products use proprietary technologies/frameworks and after a period, you become obsolete compared to your peers outside. Not the best place if you want to stay ahead in the technology. - Sometimes you can get lazy due to the lax environment - Hikes are not great, there have been years without any hike in many cases
