Pros

Nice gym with free aerobics classes. Flexible work hours, though you usu end up putting in a lot more than 40 hours because of ambitious deadlines. Can telecommute (Oracle picks up the tab for ISP).

Cons

Not easy to find out who is responsible for what. Documents are not easy to locate and search. Not easy to get hardware upgrade. (My desktop at work is more than 5 years old, with only 80 Gb disk space, DVD-Rom - not RW - drive, clunky CRT monitor). No free lunch.

Pros

Large, stable company. Good benefits and culture. Leadership communicates well and often. Even in a downer economy, Oracle is still producing good numbers for the Street. The flexible culture allows good hours and work from home or telecommuting. There's good lateral movement opportunities, and given how many companies Oracle buys, you have a decent chance to switch compentencies or area of expertise if you choose to go after it as such. Co-workers vary with the group you are in but are generally effective and smart. The area of growth now is Asia, and there are plenty of good opportunities there.

Cons

Can get lost in the size and employee pool. The management structure setup is highly complex and often I find groups of employees working on similar or relevant areas unaware. The knowledge share competency could be improved.

Pros

Easy money, good place to hide until retirement!

Cons

Too big, too slow, truly awful internal systems and software. For instance I worked abroad and had to submit all timesheets and expenses twice. Once for my home country and once for the 'billing' country. Everything outsourced to India, I accidentally submitted a timesheet twice, to get it reversed I had to get 7 approvals and supply the guy in india with the row_ids of the timesheets to delete directly on the database.
