Pros

Great healthcare, dental, and vision plan. Really comfortable top-of-the-line Herman Miller chairs. Nice cubicles. Office has good location and views of San Antonio. Great group of people working here.

Cons

You will not get a raise unless your performance is in the top 10% of employees.

A place to retire

Pros

Work life balance, reasonable workload pressure, ability to work from home. Many folks staying for 10-15 years, seems they are waiting to retire quietly.

Cons

Outdated tech stack, Oracle proprietary tools, do not learn marketable technologies, longer you stay, harder to find a next role outside of a company. Literally no bonus/RSU for years, make sure you negotiate your salary well upfront, it's going to be the same for years.

Pros

Good development work right from beginning

Cons

There were layoffs in the ZFSSA org recently where around 50% of the employees were laid off. Everyone understands that layoffs need to happen sometimes. But Oracle really screwed it's H1B employees. People only found out about the layoffs through rumours 5 days before they happened. The company didn't give any notice to the laid off employees and didn't keep them on payroll for a month or 2 to allow them to find a new job. People working on an H1B visa have only 60 days to find a new job and get their visa status change application receipt which can take around 4 weeks. So a lot of employees will have to take the first job offer they get just so they don't lose their visa status and get forced to leave the country.
