      Didn't drink the cool-aid

      Pros

      The pay is reasonably good for the work. The name looks good on a resume. Good work quality produced and knowledgable group. Good peer level coworkers to work with.

      Cons

      People are not valued for their knowledge and-or experience. Things are done because it is the way it has always been done vs. finding better options or listening to better ideas. Hierarchical and stifling with a culture of fear of the managers above you. Everyone is always guessing what the head creative person wants, and good ideas are killed based on guesses vs. being presented and finding out. Fight for a better idea against the opinion of a manager; you might be looking for a new job.

      Big Company, many groups

      Pros

      They have great benefits and a good starting salary. Of all the different teams and products at Oracle, I am lucky to be in a very good group for a good product. My group works in smaller teams, and our product is a smaller product so we have more control over our code, thus making a bigger difference to the product. I did start at Oracle in a different group and it wasn't as enjoyable or rewarding.

      Cons

      It is a big company, and you might not initially know if the group you are joining is good for you or not. But it is relatively easy to switch within the company. Promotions and raises are also quite infrequent. I know great engineers who have been working there for years but haven't moved any where.

      great place to learn

      Pros

      Working at home is not a problem. We are effectively reviewed every minute of every day by the quality of work, as defined by our customers. Lots to learn, if you take advantage. Great benefits. Salary + overtime.

      Cons

      Raises/promotions just don't happen, ever. Been there over 8 years, and 2 raises. Have consistently scored quite high on reviews, and Oracle is making money hand over fist. But they don't share the wealth with their employees. You don't work at Oracle for the money. And sometimes the job satisfaction lacks, as higher management treat you poorly.
