      Challenging work in a challenging environment

      Pros

      There are lots of opportunities to become a manager and many ways to get involved with challenging work. Good place to work for those that are very independent. If you can prove your value and have a good level of professionalism, there is a good chance that you will be able to move into a management position.

      Cons

      There tend to be lots of processes which are not integrated with each other across organizations. Frequent reorganizations. Lots of overtime. There are very high demands for your time and the environment is very face-paced. This can cause a high degree of stress for those that are trying to keep more of a work-life balance.

      Pros

      Oracle has changed over the last ten years. The management staff are willing to help anywhere possible. The opportunities for knowledge growth are everywhere. You definitely get out what you put into it.

      Cons

      The cutting edge is sharp. Often leading the way on the technology has drawbacks, but in the long term, it can and has paid off.

      You can learn and get experience on Oracle technology and the new an upcoming technologies. You can get access to training and internal help with technical issues.

      Cons

      Not a place to be if you are looking for job satisfaction and advancement in your career. Employee morale is very low. Most employees have been getting very limited salary increases and very few employees have been promoted in the last 5-7 years. There are very limited employee benefits (e.g. the Christmas party, golf tournament, childrens Christmas party, stock purchase plan, bonuses etc. were cut or reduced during the tech meltdown in 2001/2002, and none of these benefits have returned.
