Pros

-Hard to think of any pros, unlike other companies who provide benefits such as stock, free food, company events, career growth, Oracle lacks all of this. On top of this, the sales division is incredibly crooked and unethical. During my 2+ years of tenure at Oracle I have seen 5+ reps actually suing the company for not getting adequate pay on deals they worked on/closed. This company will suck away your soul, even if you're incredibly tough minded, hardworking, and positive.

Cons

-Quota target/goal is unrealistic, and is used to ensure that employees will receive little to no commission (more money to execs, management) -Management has little clue on how to teach, mentor, help their teams -95% of success here in Sales is based on luck, (what territory did you get and will your field team include you in ongoing deals) -Management is terrible, they are not qualified and do nothing to respect the requests of Sales Reps -The company is unethical, crooked, and you will NOT be rewarded for your hard work or participation in closing a deal. You will be rewarded if you are chosen as a "favorite" by a management team that is unqualified.

Pros

Very good benefits, very generous healthcare, work from home policy

Cons

Very poor management. Managers are selected haphazardly, without screening, and given basic training on people skills by semi-qualified consultants after they are promoted. Managers don't have time to supervise and know what their directs are doing, so managers often just check off a job as done without evaluating the quality of the work. Getting qualified people from outside or internally can take months, so employees are often put into positions they're not qualified to hold. Communication is strictly one-way, from the top down. Performance evaluations were done for a few years, but were not mandatory and never seemed to be used, so directors only know what their managers want them to know. Appearances are everything. People agree to deadlines they know they can't meet because they don't want to look bad, then deadlines get pushed out. This is a dysfunctional environment. Don't stay more than a few years. Start working on your exit strategy as soon as you come in.

Pros

Decent benefits, realistic travel related expenses and competitive earning potential in a sales role

Cons

Constant change is all aspects of everything (change is good - but not at the pace that it happens at Oracle). Moved in my assignment three time in 18 months, this creates a need to start over again every six months to a year, which is very expense to proven sales professionals in sales cycles that take 9-18 months. Very negative work environment and a culture of ONLY LOOKING OUT FOR YOU!! This type of culture hurts the customer!!!! They need to be more focused on working better internally as a team so we are all focused on the customer, but this does not seem likely to ever happen at Oracle.
