Pros

The people are the best thing about working at Oracle. There are some technically savvy, intelligent people working there that make the job interesting and fun. New challenges every day and the opportunity to learn new things occasionally.

Cons

Management seems disconnected from their teams. There is no feeling that employees are valued and no mentoring or advanced opportunities. You must be self-motivated to work here.

Pros

Oracle India gives a friendly environment for people to work and increase their expertise. The managers are non intrusive to work and generally do not put much pressure on the employees. In Development teams, the people are technically sound and its a great learning experience overall. In this recessing global economy , Oracle India has managed to ward off any significant layoffs. The work life balance is something valued by even the managers and unless hard pressed they expect their employees to finish off the work in stipulated time to avoid long hours in office. There is hardly any weekend culture present in the Organization.

Cons

Unless a dedicated effort is put by the individuals , there is a significant risk of loosing out in technology when compared with the employees of other companies. The laid back approach may be frustrating at time. However I am yet to disclose the biggest downside.. It is the compensation , largely due the disparity in salary for an entry level employee to an experienced employee. Bonuses are also less and are rarely distributed. There has been no hike for more than an year.
