The benefits are some of the best I've ever had and the wages are decent.

Cons

Metro HR can be disorganized, uncommunicative, and, sometimes, unhelpful.

Pros

Flexible work-life balance. Most people don't even show up at the office as most work from home.

Cons

Typical PNW passive aggressive, two faced and behind the back talking. The IT department is a literal mess. They still, as of 2024, are/were using windows 7 machines in some areas of the agency. There are so many security flaws within the agency, its a wonder or literal miracle they haven't been hacked yet by someone who actually knows what they're doing. They lack basic procedures and processes and the answer to problems (even the ones they can see and are aware of) is simply...ignore it until it becomes a blazing inferno. Almost everyone in the agency has remote devices, none of which have proper firewalls. Users can upgrade their own devices OS iterations by doing so manually. Basic AD/Group policy settings are not properly in placed or enforced because "no one" wants to take responsibility for anything. You can be lied on at this organization by an individual(s) who have worked there longer and you will not be given the benefit of the doubt or even questioned before judgement is passed on you. The staff here is incapable of taking or hearing constructive criticisms. Calling out the problems that exist and stating in a forward, frank and professional manner what changes need to happen is considered aggressive and is not appreciated or considered. There's a mass amount of IT debt and a misuse of tax dollars happening at the organization. The resources they do have, they don't know how to properly use them or govern them. They want to hire more staff but don't even use the staff they have on hand adequately. Its just a mess of "IT professionals" that are seemingly trying to find their way. This starting at the top and trickling down. The CIO uses other peoples IT plans and visions to try to come up with ideas for how to create hers because "if someone else has done it, we don't need to re-invent the wheel".
