Pros

Plenty of opportunities for training and self expansion. Largest in their field in North America. Many relocation opportunities.

Cons

Australian ownership drives ship from overseas. Aus. focus on chemicals side of industry. Short sighted decisions for quarterly profitability. Still an old boys network. At times overlook issues with long-term or senior staff but reprimand others. Not consistent handling employee issues.

Pros

International company. Excellent products. Outstanding employees and middle management

Cons

Somewhat aimless. The board & CEO have hired a lot of mining people who do not know how to run a commercial business. Extractive mining businesses are different to businesses that sell things to customers. Hopefully they will engage with people who can sell and run businesses in the future and return to a position of strength. It is difficult however as he company made a lot of bad acquisitions in the mining boom which it has never recovered from.

Pros

Good corporate history. Up until a few years ago, Orica, had a wealth of good loyal people with substantial knowledge.

Cons

Narrow minded management joining the company from other organisations making decisions without knowledge of the business, consultation to the workforce, or understanding the downstream effects or true cost of their poor decisions. Employees are considered as a number, which can be easily replaced if required. This is a clear indication that management do not understand the true assets they have. No clear vision by EXCO with exceptionaly poor Communication to employees, customers, and industry.
