-People were getting fired simply because a boss didn't like them -I was hired as a host but I had to do other jobs as well like answer calls, take cash, and pack to go even though they had two cashiers who's duties were those -I was the only host available in a 8 hour shift for the whole restaurant

I worked at the pancake house in edgewater, New Jersey which was located in Fort Lee before. I worked there for almost 4 years. We all made quick fast money, however the work environment that it turned into made everyone leave. He wanted to start charging us for things we broke, our mistakes (We are not perfect), and for meals customers did not like. However, it is AGAINST THE LAW to charge us for anything unless he pays us $7.25 an hour. He only pays us $2.15 an hour, but our checks were always $0. Although the food was good, customers started realizing. For example, one time a lady left the restaurant extremely angry because the owner cursed and yelled at one of my co-workers in the dining room. They also made us pay for our entire uniform (shirt, jeans, and shoes) they all had to be from a specific website, minus the jeans.
