Pros

Good pay and benefits Good people to work with Toledo location is superb. It is a great place to learn new experiences and skills to transfer to other organziations

Cons

Adverse to promoting males over age 50 and not much better for women Although 401K is benchmark the Healthcare leads a lot to be desired Sr mgmt needs to lead by example whether it relates to spending money to performance reviews There is much waste at Owens Corning. If they simply eliminated use of power point an unbelievable number of hours would be freed up to work on important stuff Long walk from parking lot!!

Pros

Owens Corning stays cutting edge in finding unique, currently under served consumer needs and develops truly innovative and unique products to meet those needs. Building a business around this concept, Owens Corning successfully markets and brands itself as the leader in innovation for home/construction materials. Well recognized in the marketplace and capitalizing on the "Pink Panther" branding technique, this company gives sales representatives a legitimate, reputable sales opportunity to earn a good living while selling a product that truly helps people. Management provides on going support and motivation for success. Contests and recognition go a long way in addition to an income in the high 5 figures and potential for 6 figures for top performers.

Cons

As in many sales organizations, sales representatives are expected to earn strictly on performance based commission. No salary, no draw, and no company vehicle (actually no gas expense, mile reimbursement, nothing!) Driving back and forth to appointments adds significant mileage to your vehicle. You better drive something with very good gas mileage or gas expenses will eat up your profits in a rather slow commission month. The commissions per sale can be good. However, the commission percentage is about 5% lower than what I would have deemed fair. Don't get me wrong, Owens Corning has great products, but they are positioned as "upscale" and come with a significantly higher price tag compared to competitors' offerings. This is often the sole or primary reason sales reps don't sell often.

Pros

The work environment is great.

Cons

Conservative, fear-based decision making. Business is all about risk. This company is sometimes so afraid of making a mistake that they miss opportunities.
