Important work with great colleagues, but poor management

Pros

Amazing individual contributors and life-long friends. Important work. Decent pay.

Cons

Terrible health and new parent leave benefits for a health company. Out of touch and inept senior management. People are so unhappy there but the job market is so scarce right now. The majority remain because they have no other option. Lack of clarity about decision making authority resulting in slow and uncertain decisions.

Decent pay and benefits, VERY top-down management style

Pros

The pay was fine and benefits good. Colleagues were friendly and (mostly) competent. Mission of the organization is fantastic, and you get to feel like you're contributing to something important. Working hours are humane.

Cons

Management was very top-down. Even if you are a fairly senior person, be prepared to have multiple people higher on the totem pole weighing in on even minor decisions.
