      Fast Paced, High Risk, High Reward Environment

      Pros

      The people they hire, at least in Tech, are among the best of the best and you can't help but improve your own skill set by being around them.There's a lot of exposure to new technologies on the cutting edge of the industry, which is also a great opportunity for growth in one's own skill set. The perks of working at Peak6 are a huge plus in my book: company-sponsored sports teams, snacks in the break room, regular team outings to restaurants, etc. Also, every year they have an annual party that's a blast. All this leads to an environment where you like your coworkers like they're your friends, and many of them are friends outside of work.

      Cons

      They seem to be having a big problem with employee retention in Tech. I wish I knew exactly why it was, but there's a lot of people that have been leaving lately because they feel like they're doing menial, thankless jobs, and management isn't making a concerted effort to fix the issue.

      Pros

      As a company PEAK6 can be a tough place to work and has high expectations. As an employee you have hold yourself accountable for your own career and want to be challenged. PEAK6 can provide a lot of opportunity if you put the effort in and work hard. Don’t expect any handouts. PEAK6 is very open to new ideas and new ways of doing things, but you are always going to be challenged and asked if there is a better way or how can we be unique in the things we are trying to do. PEAK6 invests a lot of time in their new employees and there are a lot of really great people at PEAK6. PEAK6 is continually looking at ways to improve the culture and invest more in their employees. If you are motivated, want to be challenged and will take initiative, PEAK6 is a great place for you to learn.

      Cons

      PEAK6 as a company runs lean & there are very high expectations. If you don’t want to work hard and just skate by this isn’t the place for you, it will get noticed. In the past, there has been little focus on transparency & long term career development, both have started to improve but will need to continue down this path.

      Thanks for the feedback. I think you capture many parts of our culture – we hold ourselves to a high standard, we are self-critical about how to improve, and we look for new ways to do things. I’m happy to see the focus we are putting into more transparency and professional development is coming through.       Great company, great place to be

      Pros

      If you are looking for a company where you can learn a lot, be consistently challenged, and really enjoy what you do, PEAK6 is the place for you. The communicative and collaborative environment lends itself to everyone teaching and learning every day you come to work. The leaders are always willing to tackle interesting ideas and help guide and drive people to achieve difficult goals.

      Cons

      If you don't like to try your best and work hard, you shouldn't consider PEAK6. Expectations are high for level of effort. This isn't a con unless you don't like to work hard though.
