Smaller company so more personable than some.

PEMCO is like your paw-paw. Wise, well intended, cant use his phone yet, will probably leave you a respectable inheritance as long as you dont let him get catfished. This review isnt for everyone....its for who Im desperately hoping will come to join us: People who really understand leadership....not power or mgmt or title but leading. teams. leading change. Its for the creative analytics who like coming in and finding meaning and order in the chaos of data, and someone with the stomach to survive your run of the mill corporate politics. Do you feel weird enough to try and innovate in an industry that really believes it cant change? Thats who we need. Our aspirational values, culture, and commitment to our communities speak to a future I would like to be a part of. Our benefits package is strong. Despite being a bit of a notorious pot-stirrer with a penchant for holding wealthy people and corporate culture to account, I remain employed. Though it is not popular, and it has notably slowed my career to ask questions and challenge authority, it has not ended my career or stopped me from finding a position doing something I find meaningful and compelling. I would like to think our understanding of the value of diversity (and recognizing neuro-divergence) will improve that over time. Under capitalism, in an industry that once was entirely patriarchal (that's improving) and remains fairly nepotistic, where leadership tenure is fairly high, I consider that a win. You can come here and work toward change without being totally crushed like you would at a lot of bigger corporations. Most importantly, there are many people here who want to move us forward toward those values we aspire to, who are willing to step out on a limb to better the experience of our customers and each other. There are a lot of people who can simultaneously hold ambitions to return this to a more personal and individualized level of service while also having the risk tolerance to help us revolutionize the way we leverage modern tools, data, and HR practices to drive profitability and to bring our products back into a range of financial viability for more than just the upper middle class. You want to work with these really cool people. If you come in smart and knowing your worth you will be compensated well to do it. You will have to shake the tree to get the fruit in that process. Don't under value yourself.
