Pros

Truly collaborative teams working together to improve the company and move it forward. Lots of work to be done so can be exciting challenge to be a part of a growing organization. Amazing brand with an honorable mission. Establishing processes and standards not in existence before.

Cons

Challenging environment sometimes. Some departments taking longer than others to accept change and make changes which leaves some disgruntled. Management can be disconnected due to poor communication. Sense of moving too fast without proper infrastructure. Old ways of doing things clash with new ways of doing things.

Pros

Not able to think of one right now.

Cons

Company has gone from bad to worse over the past few years. Too many 'directors' trying to manage in areas they no nothing about. Hiring so many consultants they will soon outnumber the employees. Extremely stressful work environment. Employees expected to work ALL hours of the day, including weekends.

Pros

Hourly rates are relatively competitive, even if men make $10/hour more than women for the same job. My teammates were some of the most brilliant, resilient, creative and collaborative partners I could have asked for; they shine in spite of awful management. I truly can’t think of a positive without a negative caveat. We’ll get to that below.

Cons

PenFed is the most toxic, traumatizing place I have worked in my career. “Leadership” is a small group of like-minded men who arbitrarily move the goalposts of success to make themselves look good, pinch pennies or both. Your good work will be overshadowed by some VPs conviction that a word in a presentation is wrong, or it doesn’t “look like” what competitors are doing; that can be enough to have you personally degraded in a group setting. It’s beyond inappropriate. IF YOU ARE HIRED AS A CONTRACTOR WITH ANY DANGLING HOPE OF CONVERTING TO FULL TIME THEY ARE LYING TO YOU. They will push you to work long hours and lie about it in the interest of being a “team player.” It’s exploitative and illegal. You won’t be treated like a human being.
