Pros

Decent pay and potential for growth.

Cons

The "personal leave" includes holidays and you may be required to work holidays so the leave is not as generous as they make it sound in their offer. Make sure you are aware of this since most people in orientation are shocked to find this out after they start. This is not common in the financial industry. Also, they may not disclose other factors with respect to the job until after you start so you may be stuck with a job that was misrepresented to you, such as required overtime, the location of the office you will be working, etc. They seem to be a firm that's trying to be like a larger organization, but still has "old school" beliefs which will end up holding them back from attracting and retaining good employees.

Pros

Good 401 (k) matching program and they give you 21 personal days off a year plus sick time (you do use these for holidays such as July 4th and Labor Day).

Cons

I currently work as a Member Service Representative at the Omaha service center, aka OSC4. The management out there is subpar, as the manager, after hiring you, will hardly ever speak to you and only acknowledges your existence in a walk by as your on the phone each day. They also expect you to multi-task WAY too much, keeping track of everything that you sell as well as daily loan logs, and constant email flow. The MSR's are only allowed two, 10 minute breaks a day, with an optional 1 hour lunch, which most of the time you only get 30 minutes because the call volume dictates everything. You are also micromanaged to T, and if you are a minute off on your 10 minute break, you will get scorned. The sales first atmosphere is also getting to a point of being ridiculous, mostly because the MSR's are expected to sell quite a bit, and hardly given any commission for it, as before this last commission special for checking accounts, you were only given a $15 gift card for having the most credit card applications, which is a complete joke. Also, the starting salary of MSR's is only about $13.50, which in my opinion, for the work we do, we should be getting paid at least $15/hour, as we bring in quite a bit of revenue from selling loans as well as knowing a little of every departments duties.

Pros

Free parking; flexibility in work hours; on-site cafeteria. Proximity to metro and 495 makes working at HQs convenient.

Cons

Despicable treatment of employees in Corporate HQs. Routinely made to work nights and weekends with no notice which was not disclosed during the hiring process (I was salaried and therefore was not paid or given comp time). There is a pervasive culture of 'crap rolls downhill' that has been in place for many, many years and to which the c-level team wholeheartedly believes in. This results in a hostile work atmosphere to which HR blindly turns its head even when reports are made involving demeaning, threatening behavior by higher level executives. In addition, be prepared to work holidays even as a higher-level employee.
