Pros

Money is good. Over 50K in Iowa allows one to buy a house/car and raise a family. So far, generous bonuses. Other than that....that's it!! for Pros

Cons

Managment ideas and ways o f conducting business has not changed in the 1.5 years since POET bought out Flint Hills Resources. So, when reading this, remember this is not the REAL POET. Actually, I am not sure if it is or is not, because I have never worked for the real POET! As for all FHR; management here practices familial nepotism. That is to say they only promote people who they like or seen as a personal friend that would make management job easier. They do not have the growth of POET as a business in mind. If you train a chimp, the chimp only knows what you taught them. Yet a vastly experienced individual would draw from knowledge. Therefore, helping business as a whole and not the just the particular part it was hired for. Next, Shift issues: Production has to be on a rotating schedule. 2 on; 2 off; 3 on; 2 off; 2 on; 3 off. This is the two weeks schedule. Then they flip to nights ever 6 weeks and back again to days in 6 weeks. There is no balance of life, which they preach. Lets see management do this for an extended period of time and see how life really is!!! Flipping shift hurt a person physically, emotional and spiritually. Adjust bio rhythms, sleep and eating patterns, family and church life. Next, Health benefits. Sub-par. pay (as I write this) approximately over $250.00 per month (or $125.00 per paycheck). Insurance has high deductible and MAX out of pocket before they pay anything. Forget putting a child or spouse on your plan....add approximately $400 more per month. So, approximately $600 a month for family health insurance, So, 1/3 of pay is gone for health insurance per month. About sums it up
