Work Hard at Work Worth Doing

Pros

The single best reason to work for POET is the vision. There is nothing more rewarding than working hard at work worth doing. It is imparative that we finally become energy independant. Other than the big vision thing, its also very challenging and the people are very good.

Cons

New HR movement is hurting the company. We need to be able to ensure that everybody is on the same team, or get rid of them without jumping through 6 months worth of hoops. Also the computerization of all HR things is horrendous. It now takes three times as long as in the past to comlete any training etc. Simply put I need about 15 mins of HR training a year, anyone that needs more than that, is a moron that the 12 hours wont help anyway.

Pros

Number one reason for working at Poet is the vision. The thought of eliminating the need for foreign oil in this country is awesome.

Cons

Management at the corporate level seems to only deal with plant level management and does not seek to see all points of view in any issue. There is a lack of HR at the plant level which leads to dictator style management at the plant level. The company had some great values but fails to carry them out at every level.

Pros

Coworkers will lend a hand when needed. Benifit package is fairly good.

Cons

The phrase we overcommunicate is a joke, you are at a need to know basis, sometimes seems management uses it for job security. Management doesn't show any appreciation for a job well done.Egos are not parked by the door by management, I don't think they know how to do something without some one telling them how to do it.
